Aguas de Benahavís, the company that manages the water and sewerage networks in the municipality, has announced that work will be initiated to eliminate wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) located in the Los Arqueros urbanization.

There are two treatment plants located in the area. The first one, in the Lago de los Arqueros area, and a second one close to the El Higueral golf course, known as Eucaliptos - Arqueros, which collects and treats the wastewater from the Los Aguilares urbanizations and the other nearby ones upstream of it.

To replace these two WWTPs, the new work includes the execution of a collector that collects the sewage that reaches the treatment plants, to drive them, by gravity, to the integral sanitation collector that runs along the Guadalmina River, so that the two mentioned sewage treatment plants can be suppressed.

For this, a 315 mm diameter PVC manifold with a total length of 1,664 m has been sized. The new evacuation network will have 69 new registration wells and will have an average slope of 2.5%.

In most of the route the network will run underground, except for the section in which it crosses the channel of the Campanillas Stream, since in this area it will do it over the course.

These works, awarded to the company Covico, have an expected term of three months and a tender budget of € 562,491.14.

The population that will be favored by the execution of the collector is approximately 1,500 inhabitants.
