Aguas de Benahavís, committed to sustainable mobility

Aguas de Benahavís has incorporated an electric vehicle into its fleet, adding to its firm commitment to the municipality, based on sustainable mobility and environmental respect

This car will be used by operators as they go about their daily task of providing Aguas de Benahavís services. The technical characteristics meet the guarantees of zero CO2 and noise emissions, with 130 km of autonomy and a modern trip computer showing information on consumption and energy recovery, among other characteristics.

The aim of using this model of vehicle is to notably reduce energy consumption and consequently emissions that pollute the atmosphere. In addition, the use and maintenance costs are much lower than those of conventional vehicles. For example, the consumption and maintenance of a diesel vehicle costs on average €8.5/100 km, while that of an electric vehicle is only €2.2/100 km.

To charge the units that have been bought, the company will have electrical adaptors in its central office situated in Plaza Huerto de Salvarito, as well as two charging points installed by the company in public areas of the town centre. Specifically, these points will be installed in Avenida Andaucía[ts1] and Avenida Fiscal Luis Portelo, next to the school.

This is the first vehicle incorporated into the fleet that functions only using electricity and it will be used by employees in their daily work. In the future and in the medium term, the company will renew its fleet so that all vehicles are like this model. Two vans, two 4x4s and two private cars have also been added to the fleet.

The manager of Aguas de Benahavís, Óscar Ruiz, has highlighted the importance of this initiative in the area of innovation and sustainable development, as avoiding the emission of greenhouse gases protects the ozone layer and the environment.

Those who attended the presentation included Esperanza González, Benahavís Town Council's Tax Councillor for Taxation and managing director of the company, as well as José Antonio Martín, manager of Nissan.
