Understanding your tariffs
The tariffs for managing water, the sewer system, the desalination surcharge, the autonomous community wastewater treatment levy and the operating rate are based on the specific characteristics of the municipality of Benahavís and current legislation.

Water and sewers
Billing by consumption tranches is applied in Benahavís, so that users are billed according to their water consumption and with progressively higher rates, to foster rational use of water. The income from the tariffs must cover both the regular costs of managing the system and investment in the infrastructures that the town requires.
There are two parts to the tariff structure for the water and sewer service:
- A variable part, which is billed according to consumption and is applied equally for the water and sewer tariffs. The water bill is also charged in tranches, considering the m3 consumed.
- A fixed part, called the service fee, is a charge for immediate availability and permanent access to the service. The water tariff depends on the calibre of the meter, and for the sewer system it is a fixed, independent fee.

Operating rate
The operating rate is allocated in full so that Acosol, Abastecimiento de Agua y Saneamiento de la Costa del Sol (a public company of the Costa del Sol Occidental Municipal Association), carries out tasks to remove, treat, and purify wastewater. The aim is to treat municipal wastewater and return it to the natural environment in the best possible conditions. It has two parts:
- The variable part, which is charged according to the consumption of drinking water in increasing tranches.
- The fixed part, called the service fee, is billed depending on the calibre of the meter that is installed.

Average consumption reference data for one month
The price of water is determined based on different progressive price brackets to promote responsible consumption and the corresponding service fee. The average price of water consumption for a home per month is equivalent to:
