According to the jury, comprised of journalists and writers who are associated with the water sector, including Daniel Ruiz (Premio Tusquets), this story is an example of a balance between careful narration and a plot that is connected to one of the objectives of the competition: caring for water resources. 'The winning story is a call to look after the natural wealth that surrounds us, as beautiful as it is finite', they concluded.

This Friday, on the occasion of World Water Day, the manager of Aguas de Benahavís, Óscar Ruiz, and the Town Council's Education Councillor, María Ángeles Mena, gave the young prizewinner an iPad to take home in the presence of all her classmates at the Daidín school and some family members. In addition, both the winner and the school were given plaques in recognition of their efforts and participation in this competition.

The competition was organised for the fifth year running to contribute to disseminating water culture and promoting responsible and careful use of the environment among the youngest members of society through literature. Precisely this year, World Water Day will be celebrated under the motto 'Leaving no one behind', with the aim of focusing on access to water and sewers by disadvantaged population groups, including children, refugees, disabled people or indigenous people, to tackle the water crisis from a social perspective.
